Wave your Brahms in the air!

Qeh_feb2004

The London Phoenix Orchestra is embarking on a music marathon this Saturday by attempting to play every orchestral piece written by Brahms in a single day.

Conductor Levon Parikian will lead his charges through 11 major works written for orchestra by the German Romantic composer in a six hour musical extravaganza at St. Augustine's Church in South Kensington, to raise funds for the Orchestra and children's charity Jessie's Fund.

"As far as we are aware, the Brahmsathon is a unique musical event for only the most dedicated or foolhardy musician," says trombonist Alison Bowyer on her Justgiving page.

"It will also be a musical feast and a celebration of the London Phoenix Orchestra's love of music making in support of two very worthwhile causes. Our aim is to raise £5000 from the event which will be split evenly between the two charities."

They've already raised more than £3k. Bravo!
